Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group is a New York-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly after. Corcoran was one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she has made 53 deals with the show, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment to purchase 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was second of a family of 10 kids who was born in Edgewater. Florence was her mother, who was an errand-taker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced between jobs throughout Corcoran's youth. Her family sometimes relied on the free delivery of food from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who often drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and sneer, especially when he'd been drinking. Corcoran struggled with her education and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic primary school within her community and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After flunking several courses during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and was a D-student when she graduated.
